Andrew Pratt will present "ITC Section 337: Recent Developments and Looking Ahead with Chief ALJ Bullock" for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) on March 20, 2014.
U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 practice and procedure experienced significant changes in 2013, and the ITC anticipates a similar level of activity in 2014. This panel will cover recent developments and key topics at the ITC such as:
- the presidential veto in Investigation No. 337-TA-794 (the Samsung-Apple investigation) and the continuing viability of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) at the ITC;
- the impact of the Federal Circuit's decision in Suprema, Inc. v. ITC on indirect infringement claims;
- recent changes in the law regarding licensing-based domestic industries; and
- other important issues that the ITC is likely to address in 2014 and beyond.
