On September 9, Jamie Barnett spoke on a panel on behalf of Mission: Readiness, an organization of over 400 admirals and generals who advocate for childhood education, development and nutrition as vital factors in national defense. The panel presented at the annual conference of the United Fresh Produce Association in Washington, DC.

Currently, 75% of young Americans between the ages of 17 and 24 are ineligible to serve in the military. The single biggest obstacle to elibigility in this age group is obesity, and healthy school lunches are a crucial step in battling this trend.
