One of the biggest threats to businesses right now is the vulnerability of their data security and privacy. The inadvertent or negligent disclosure of personal information triggers reporting requirements under various laws, and can result in lawsuits, penalties and fines, and various damages. The average data breach costs a company around $1.5 million, not including the stigma of damages to a "security company," brought about by a breach of data security. The panel will discuss the legal implications of cybersecurity breaches, limitations of liability, and how a monitoring center can and should protect itself.
