An increase in federal national security measures in the telecommunications space means that products counsel need to broaden their considerations as they advise on new products and services.

Privacy, data and advertising often are the primary concerns for products counsel. Products that use wireless frequencies or communications networks can be affected by additional regulatory requirements established by the Federal Communications Commission. In the past few months, for example, the agency has proposed new reporting requirements centered on internet routing, cracked down on deepfake robocalls, and updated certain broadband spectrum use rules.
