Venable partner Josh Kaufman was featured in an October 18, 2011 Law360 Q&A that covered a wide range of topics including Kaufman’s most difficult cases and areas needing reform in his practice.

Speaking about an area of his practice that needs reform, Kaufman said, “A great deal of my practice is in new technologies, which are constantly changing. No matter how hard the courts or the legislature try, they are always lagging behind. As such, with each new case that comes in with a new intellectual property issue, there is no case law on point so there is constant improvising, making round pegs fit into oval holes. One would hope that somehow a process could evolve in which the lag time between the statutes, precedents and technology would not be so great.”
