Leland S. Shelton


Leland Shelton is a member of Venable's Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice Group and concentrates his practice on complex litigation, including both class action and multi-district litigation defense. He has represented a range of clients, including global pharmaceutical companies, nationwide product manufacturers and regional grocery store chains. He is experienced in motion practice, expert and evidentiary disputes and discovery in a number of state and federal courts.

Leland graduated from Harvard Law School. While in law school, Leland was a student attorney with the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, where he represented indigent clients in family law and housing matters in the Boston area. He earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta.


Leland is active in the Baltimore community. He serves on the board of directors of Belair-Edison Neighborhoods, Inc., which promotes neighborhood revitalization in the northeast Baltimore community and Central Scholarship, which awards scholarships and interest-free loans to students pursuing higher education and career training.

Leland also has an active pro bono practice, including ongoing civil rights litigation in Arkansas. He has also helped low-income citizens secure expungements of their criminal records through the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.
