This week, Venable announced the opening of an office in Wilmington, Delaware and the addition of partner Jamie Edmonson to lead the new office. With more than 16 years of experience handling commercial bankruptcies, restructurings, insolvencies, and liquidations, Edmonson has regularly served as Delaware counsel in large Chapter 11 filings. She has represented lenders, debtors, creditors, statutory committees (creditor and equity), asset purchasers, landlords and lessees in a wide range of industry sectors, including information technology, retail, food, energy, construction, real estate, telecommunications and manufacturing.

News of the new office and Edmonson’s arrival was featured in multiple publications including the March 5, 2013 edition of Law360 and the March 6, 2013 editions of Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters News & Insight including its “Career Tracker.”

“Venable has a renowned national bankruptcy platform, with excellent attorneys who are experienced in most of the country's important bankruptcy venues,” Edmonson told Law360. Speaking about the new Wilmington office, Edmonson said, “It will also enable the firm to leverage our deep bench of bankruptcy, litigation and transaction attorneys, giving the firm's clients a strong role in major corporate matters in Delaware.” On the task of getting the new office up and running, Edmonson said, “While one would think that opening a new office would be stressful, the people at Venable have made the transition almost seamless.” Bringing an added perspective to her matters, Edmonson also spent time at a national turnaround firm. “Working for a turnaround firm enabled me to understand the business side of the bankruptcy process, rather than merely looking at the issues through an attorney's eye,” she added.
