Venable partner Paul Strain was quoted in an October 12 Law360 article on another Fosamax case, Graves v. Merck, in which the plaintiff alleges that the osteoporosis drug caused a bone-rotting condition in her jaw.

Strain, who is representing Merck, commented on the debate over the testimony of Graves' physicians, saying there were inconsistencies in oral surgeon Robert Marx's past publicized statements about the length of time the drug must be used before it can allegedly lead to the jaw condition.

This lawsuit and others have helped guide litigation in approximately 800 other cases involving jawbone osteonecrosis claims associated with Fosamax, which have all occurred in the Southern District of New York.
