Chase Burgess provides comprehensive government affairs support to trade associations and companies in the financial services industry. He monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory developments and helps to aid clients in navigating the landscape on Capitol Hill and at the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the Federal Reserve, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Prior to joining Venable, Chase was a professional staff member on the Committee on Financial Services at the United States House of Representatives, where he worked on the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.
During his time as a congressional staffer, Chase led the international insurance portfolio, which included work on covered agreements, international capital standards, and other issues relating to the relationship between the United States and international regulatory regimes. He also helped draft the Committee on Financial Service’s housing finance reform plan and multiple reauthorizations of the National Flood Insurance Program and assisted on various issues relating to housing.
