Michael developed an extensive knowledge of the legislative process and a network of key contacts within the federal government while serving in senior positions in both the House and Senate. In addition to being appointed staff director, he previously served as the deputy staff director and general counsel of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Michael's other government experience includes serving as the general counsel of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, general counsel of the House Science Committee, and a member of the Solicitor's office at the Department of the Interior.
Michael previously brought this experience to bear as a principal at a prominent lobbying firm and partner at an esteemed DC-based law firm, advancing the business objectives of clients across a broad spectrum of matters, including privacy, Internet of Things, import-export bank, nuclear policy, electronic commerce, drone policy, generic drug pricing, medical devices, Medicare reimbursement, pesticide regulation, and natural gas legislation and regulation.
