Pabitra K. Chakrabarti


PK Chakrabarti brings an extensive background in mechanical engineering and technology to his patent prosecution and counseling practice. Prior to joining Venable, PK worked for a major renewable energy company, preparing patent applications and office action responses, and managing the division's patent portfolio. His work spanned core mechanical technologies, such as combustion, fluid mechanics, additive manufacturing, and other electrical/electronics technologies in application areas of healthcare, imaging, lighting, appliances, and software and business methods. 

Beyond his role as patent counsel, PK has led and driven several innovation and quality initiatives. As a certified Level 3 TRIZ Professional/Coach, he has conducted ten global training sessions/workshops on directed innovations in renewable energy and the wind turbine blade industry, focusing on innovation trends within an industry, the evolution pathway of relevant technologies or products, mapping and working around competitors' intellectual property, and positioning patent portfolios in opportunity spaces.

As a certified Lean Six Sigma Quality Master Black Belt (MBB), PK has coached and mentored more than 15 Black Belt and 50 Green Belt projects in patent-related cost, quality, productivity, and audit initiatives, focusing on value-driven alignment with customer needs and elimination of defects from work processes or work products.
