Timothy Hammond advises clients in the cybersecurity and defense spaces on matters involving escalations management, open source intelligence, investigations, and geopolitical conflict analysis. Prior to joining Venable, Tim was an open source intelligence consultant who led a team of analysts through a complex international legal project that involved investigating political disinformation campaigns and the presence of coordinated inauthentic behavior on social media platforms.
Tim was previously a program manager and senior intelligence analyst for the security consultancy arm of a private military contractor, where he oversaw the development of a digital monitoring program to strengthen clients’ security measures and overseas operations. Tim worked to establish emergency alert and reporting mechanisms, enhance interoperability between security teams, and transform information collected from surface, deep, and dark web sources into actionable intelligence products.
Prior to that, Tim was a Mediterranean regional subject matter expert for the United States Marine Corps Center for Advanced Operational Culture Learning. In this role, Tim developed numerous geopolitical courses, conducted pre-deployment training for thousands of Marines, taught a specialized course at the Expeditionary Warfare School, and researched humanitarian and security issues which crossed between the geographic boundaries of the European Command (EUCOM), Africa Command (AFRICOM), and Central Command (CENTCOM) areas of responsibility.
