Chana Ickowitz defends employers in lawsuits involving claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, termination in violation of public policy, statutory retaliation, and wage and hour violations. Chana has resolved lawsuits at all stages of litigation, including on motions for summary judgment. Chana has experience defending both single plaintiff matters as well as wage and hour class actions and Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions in California federal and state courts, and in arbitration before (AAA) and JAMS. Chana has also successfully resolved numerous single-plaintiff wage and hour matters brought before the California Labor Commissioner.
Chana routinely provides advice and counseling to clients on a wide array of employment issues to help them implement best practices and minimize their risk of liability. She frequently counsels clients on wage and hour matters such as provision of meal and rest periods, payment of overtime, compliance with wage statement requirements under California's Labor Code, as well as termination decisions, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, and sick leave policies. Chana also regularly drafts employment documents for clients including employment agreements, severance agreements, employee handbooks, and confidentiality agreements.
