Nick is experienced in all aspects of the Chapter 11 process, including first-day motions, relief from the automatic stay, 363 sales, claims litigation, avoidance actions based on preferential or fraudulent transfers and other adversary proceedings, and plan confirmation.
As part of the firm's Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Servicing team, Nick frequently works with CMBS Trusts and Special Servicers, handling intercreditor disputes; foreclosure and guaranty actions, including receivership appointments; lender-liability actions; and breach of contract and fraud actions related to loan agreements.
Nick also has substantial experience handling commercial litigation, including all aspects of state and federal litigation for individuals and corporations. He has handled pre-trial practice, motions practice, fact and expert discovery, witness preparation, and appellate practice, and counseled clients regarding litigation strategy, settlement, and future liability.
Nick maintains an active pro bono practice. He is currently litigating an individual's claims for asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and guardianship before Immigration Court and the Superior Court of California. Nick is a member of Venable's Los Angeles Pro Bono Committee.
While at Loyola Law School, Nick participated in the Loyola Law School Transactional Moot Competition and externed for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
