Daniel M. Podgorski

Patent Agent

Prior to joining Venable, Daniel Podgorski was a chemistry patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In that role, Daniel examined patent applications in the fields of pharmacology and chemistry, focusing on the application of constitutional law in the prosecution of patent applications, conducting extensive prior art searches, and collaborating with attorneys and applicants to identify allowable subject matters.

As a researcher, Daniel worked on the development of a bismuth triflate catalyzed synthesis of cyclic acetals, which was published in the scientific journal Synthesis in 2010.  His graduate work focused on studies toward the synthesis of (–)-diazaphilonic acid via a Diels-Alder induced dimerization of its monomer, (–)-mitorubrinic acid.
