Jeff Sherwood focuses on patent infringement, trade secrets, and intellectual property litigation. In the role of lead trial counsel, Jeff has tried cases to verdict for domestic and foreign companies in several active patent courts, including Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey, and Texas. Jeff has handled Markman hearings in courts in California, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. He has managed a wide variety of technology cases – including nuclear power systems, textile processing, and telecommunications – involving misappropriation of trade secrets, theft of domain names, and other domain name and Internet technologies.
Prior to joining Venable, Jeff served as practice group leader of the Intellectual Property and Technology group at a national law firm, and has served similar functions in his prior firms. Earlier in his career, he was the lead counsel in a wide variety of technical cases, involving substantial issues in medicine, toxicology, pharmacology, and engineering. The National Law Journal has twice recognized Jeff's patent defense verdicts and once recognized his patent plaintiff's verdict in its annual reviews of top verdicts in the United States.
