Stephen E. Marshall

For more than 15 years, Steve Marshall has concentrated on litigation involving medical, scientific and technology issues. He has participated in several multi-month trials involving pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostic assays and technology used by the financial industry. He has been lead counsel in more than 15 trials that have gone to verdict, and has assisted in several other trials that have gone to verdict. He has also argued numerous appeals, including appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits, as well as matters before the appellate courts in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Within the last 3 years alone, he has argued and won 4 appeals to Maryland's highest appellate court.

Steve is a trial lawyer with experience in state and federal courts. He has had primary responsibility from the commencement to conclusion, including responsibility as lead trial counsel, for matters involving product liability, insurance coverage, intentional tort, premises liability, and catastrophic accidents. Steve has also been selected to participate on science and expert development teams in mass tort pharmaceutical and vaccine litigation. In that role, he has developed considerable knowledge in the areas of cardiology, neurology, immunology and epidemiology.

Significant Matters

Steve recently participated in the defense of a pharmaceutical company in two separate multi-week trials that went to verdict. A national legal publication selected as one of the top 15 defense verdicts that year a verdict that Steve obtained for a defendant in a defamation action tried over a two-week period. Steve has obtained favorable judgments for clients in courts in Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Florida, Louisiana and Kansas. During the last three years, he has also argued and won the following cases before Maryland's highest appellate court.
