Venable Partner Stu Ingis was quoted in a December 23 Bloomberg article discussing user privacy on the Web and recent efforts to regulate the methods advertisers use to collect information from consumers.

Ingis, who advises a coalition that represents more than 5,000 advertisers led by the Direct Marketing Association and the American Association of Advertising Agencies, said, "Marketers are already working overtime to approach consumer directly."

He added, "Being able to identify people's interests efficiently through the Web and serve them ads accordingly benefits consumers and is crucial to the development of the Internet. There is nothing sinister about it."
