Venable senior legislative advisor Rob Smith was quoted in an October 20, 2011 article in The Hill on the status of Washington’s lobbying industry following the end of the third quarter.

Commenting on Venable’s lobbying efforts in light of Congress’ ban on earmarks, Smith said, “We have a fairly robust appropriations practice… So we’ve found that in many cases our clients want to advocate for grant money at the agencies as opposed to traditional earmarks.” Smith also commented on the business-friendly agenda of the GOP led House, saying, “House Republicans are listening to industry and are helping to push their priorities. Part of the Republican jobs plan is to roll back or block some environmental measures that hurt the private sector, so industry may not feel they need much outside help right now.”
