Theodore B. (Ted) Randles

Ted Randles is an associate with Venable's Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the Washington, DC office. He joined Venable from the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served as a trial attorney in the Civil Division’s Commercial Litigation Branch. He has a broad range of experience with affirmative and defensive litigation, and particular knowledge of class actions, oil and gas litigation, contract, grant and bond claims, and complex bankruptcies.

While at DOJ, Ted won total dismissal of a purported class action against the federal court system and successfully mediated and settled a multi-million-dollar oil and gas decommissioning case. He also drafted and argued a prevailing objection preventing an attempted sale of artifacts from the R.M.S. Titanic.

Prior to the DOJ, Ted clerked for the Honorable Robert L. Hinkle of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force with deployments to Iraq and the United Arab Emirates. He was awarded both U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Commendation Medals for excellence in support of army combat operations in Iraq and Air Force operations in the United States.
