Theodore F. Roberts

Ted Roberts' practice centers on the defense of corporate clients involved in toxic tort litigation. Since 1994, he has defended manufacturers, distributors and contractors involved in industry-wide litigation on local, regional and national levels. He has first chair trial experience in state and federal courts. Ted has tried to verdict, as lead counsel or co-counsel, seventeen cases involving claims of occupational cancer, lung disease and death. He has also tried numerous other cases short of verdict. His cases routinely involve complex medical and scientific issues relating to causation. To this end, Ted has developed, defended and examined expert witnesses from a wide variety of medical and scientific disciplines. Ted's practice is currently focused on the defense of claims involving occupational and para-occupational exposure to asbestos. He also has defended cases involving mold, electromagnetic fields, trichloroethylene, methyl tertiary butyl ether, talc, vinyl chloride, noise, legionella and others.

Significant Matters

  • Ted is currently lead trial counsel for a contractor distributor in more than 30,000 asbestos-related personal injury and wrongful death cases filed in the State of Maryland.
  • In February 2016, Ted secured a defense verdict for an insulation contractor in a periotoneal mesothelioma case following a two-week trial in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.
