On March 17, Lars Anderson, James Boland and Jana del-Cerro obtained a significant bid protest win in the United States Court of Federal Claims. The Venable team, which represented The Huntsville Times Company, challenged the U.S. Army Redstone Arsenal's award of a civilian enterprise publication contract to a competing publisher, Tennessee Valley Printing Company.

In a 42-page decision, the Court found significant errors in the Army's handling of the procurement, including its "arbitrary" evaluation of Huntsville Times' proposal. Not only was the decision fully favorable to Huntsville Times on the merits, but the Court, which is typically reluctant to provide permanent injunctive relief, concluded that the errors were sufficiently extensive and prejudicial to Huntsville that canceling the contract was the appropriate remedy. The Court thus entered a permanent injunction against the Army, restraining it from obtaining continued performance of the contract from Tennessee Valley.
