W. Andrew (Drew) H. Gantt, III


Drew Gantt is a partner in and co-chair of Venable's Healthcare practice with over 20 years of experience focusing on healthcare and life sciences regulatory counseling, complex transactions, and strategic business advice. He represents healthcare and life sciences companies, health plans, healthcare providers, manufacturers, suppliers, healthcare IT, information services, and digital health companies in corporate and regulatory matters. He also advises venture capital groups, private equity funds, investment banks, and other investors and financial groups on healthcare regulatory issues in the financing of healthcare M&A, securities offerings, and financings.

Drew is nationally recognized for advising healthcare and life sciences, technology, and information services companies on digital health regulation and healthcare data privacy and security matters, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. He also has significant experience advising companies on other healthcare regulations, including federal and state fraud and abuse law compliance.

Drew began his legal career as an associate at Venable before leaving to serve as associate counsel with The Johns Hopkins Health System. He later returned to private practice at an international law firm.


Drew has been recommended as a Health Care and Life Science attorney by The Legal 500 for four consecutive years, and in 2014, 2015 and 2016, recognized as Life Sciences Attorney of the Year in Washington, DC by Global Law Experts. He is the past chair of the ABA eHealth, Privacy & Security Interest Group, and has been elected to serve on the Leadership Council of the ABA Health Law Section.
