Washington, DC (October 3, 2023)- Noise in the Basement, a local alt-rock band featuring Venable attorneys Andrew Price and Stephanie DeLong, won the annual Law Rocks battle of the bands fundraiser for a fourth year at the legendary 9:30 Club. For the first time the band also took home the Judges' Choice Award, with Law Rocks noting that "fans sang along to their epic performance of Weezer's 'Say It Ain't So' and were greatly impressed by the vocals on their cover of the Cranberries' 'Zombie.'" The group raised more than $36K in donations, ticket sales, and sponsorships, of which over $20K will be donated to Venable's pro bono client, Together We Bake, a DC-area nonprofit that provides job training and empowerment programs to underserved women. The group has raised more than $130,000 over the years, with a large part going to Together We Bake.

Founded in 2012, Together We Bake provides comprehensive workforce training and personal development programs to help underserved women gain self-confidence, transferable workforce skills, and invaluable hands-on experience, which will allow them to find sustainable employment and move toward self-sufficiency. The nonprofit is centered around a baking business through which women actively learn and participate in food production, food safety education, and business administration. Together We Bake also teaches empowerment and life-skills classes to help women develop self-confidence, healthy coping strategies, and a strong support network as they move toward self-sufficiency.
