On October 31, 2023, Jeffrey Ayres was profiled in the Daily Record for their annual Employment Law Power List. Ayres answered several questions about his career at Venable and regarding his role as the vice chair of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland.
“My most important responsibility, working primarily with my team of conflicts analysts, is to identify and resolve all ethics issues relating to every current matter, new business opportunity, and outside communication proposed by firm attorneys and other personnel,” Ayres said when asked about the most important component of his work as the lead ethics partner at Venable.
Ayres also shared one aspect of his profession that he would like to change: “The Maryland legal profession needs mandatory annual ethics training for all attorneys and mandatory mentoring for all attorneys admitted to the bar for five years or less. These services should be free of charge for all practitioners.”
