Hayley Degnan

Hayley Degnan assists clients with employment counseling and litigation. Hayley advises employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including compliance with a variety of federal, state, and local laws. She helps clients develop employment policies, assess requests for reasonable accommodation, and execute employment agreements. Hayley also has experience with internal investigations, company-wide audits of employee classifications, and defending against claims filed with and brought by administrative agencies.

Labor and Employment Counseling

Hayley counsels clients on compliance with relevant laws and administrative agency guidance, including in the areas of wage and hour, leave, anti-discrimination, and health and safety. She has worked with clients to handle COVID-19-related issues, such as those involving employee vaccination policies and requests for reasonable accommodation, and those related to federal, state, and local mandates.

As a trusted advisor, Hayley counsels clients in developing and improving employment policies and practices. She also helps employers manage the workplace environment and prevent disputes before they arise by crafting compliance trainings and drafting employment, consulting, restrictive covenant, and separation agreements. Hayley has developed compliance training focused on equal employment opportunity, harassment, and family and medical leave obligations.

In addition to traditional employment counseling, Hayley advises educational institutions on various issues unique to the school environment. She has assisted with internal investigations of student and employee complaints in the school context.

Labor and Employment Litigation

Hayley assists clients with internal investigations of workplace incidents, including those related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and workplace health and safety violations. She has defended against claims filed in administrative forums and brought by administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and similar state agencies.
