Halena first joined Venable as a summer associate with a passion for solving problems in the entertainment and media industries. Since then, she has broadened her skill set by working on litigation matters spanning a wide range of industries that include hospitality and food and drug, on top of the contractual disputes and privacy issues rife within entertainment.
In law school, Halena prepared for her career as a litigator through her school's intensive trial advocacy and negotiations workshops. She focused her studies on the intersection of law and media, enrolling in classes on the First Amendment, intellectual property, mass media, and cybersecurity.
Halena is also deeply committed to public interest work and has contributed vital legal research on juvenile justice reform and reproductive justice. She formerly interned at a nonprofit working to advance children's civil rights, and she remains committed to sharpening her knowledge in all areas of the law.
