New York Times quotes Gordon Davis on proposed Studio Museum expansion

Venable partner Gordon J. Davis was quoted in a July 5, 2015 New York Times article on the proposed expansion of the Studio Museum in Harlem. Plans for the museum, whose mission is the fostering and displaying of works by artists of African descent, include over 70,000 square feet of space that will allow the museum to display more of its permanent collection. The proposed plans will be submitted to New York City's public design commission next week.

One option considered for the museum's expansion was to move it out of Harlem, however that idea was dropped after it was determined its location was central to its identity. "Harlem is not just the physical place," said Davis, a co-chair of the museum board's building committee. "It has to do with the identity of African-Americans in this country."
