Real Estate

We have one of the leading real estate practices in the United States. Our team of professionals blends teamwork and creativity to guide institutions, organizations, and individuals in every facet of contemporary real estate activity, involving all types of property, in every region of the country.

Venable’s Real Estate Group provides counsel on all aspects of real estate investment transactions, including joint ventures, private offerings, tax and corporate structuring, and financing transactions. We represent both borrowers and lenders on loan originations and the negotiation of loan documents, special servicing, workouts and restructurings, and foreclosures, as well as the issuance of opinions. We also advise on acquisition and disposition transactions, including contract negotiation, title/survey and other due diligence, and closings. The group also handles numerous lease negotiations on behalf of both landlords and tenants.

Our skillful team helps clients navigate the development of all the major property types, including office buildings, industrial facilities, retail centers, and multi-family projects. We advise on the spectrum of development-related matters, such as land use and zoning, permitting, design and construction, and environmental concerns, including the negotiation of development agreements and construction contracts. Venable’s nationally recognized hospitality practice guides transactions involving hotels and resorts. Our deep experience with other specialty and nuanced property types includes healthcare and senior living facilities, master planned residential communities, laboratory and biotech facilities, storage facilities, sports and entertainment facilities, and condominiums and cooperatives.

We serve a wide variety of clients, including REITs and other publicly traded real estate companies, developers and other entrepreneurs, real estate funds, pension funds, and other real estate investors and their advisors. We also have experience navigating real estate matters unique to nonprofit organizations.

As a fully integrated practice, we work seamlessly with the firm’s tax, corporate, bankruptcy, environmental, construction, and litigation attorneys to manage even the most complex and time-sensitive transactions with speed and efficiency.
