Venable partner Ron Jacobs was quoted in an August 29, 2011 Real Clear Politics article about a new super PAC, Our Destiny, supporting former Utah governor Jon Huntsman's bid to be the Republican nominee for president.
The website for Our Destiny states that Ron Jacobs, who serves as their legal counsel, "explained that with the changing legal landscape that allows citizens to participate in the process through independent expenditure committees, the PAC is an important vehicle for people to support Governor Huntsman’s election."
Commenting to The Salt Lake Tribune in an August 30, 2011 article on the legal limits of the Huntsman campaign and Our Destiny coordinating their activities, Jacobs said, "There may be some limits on what people can and cannot do, but the PAC does not think this will hamper its efforts in support of Governor Huntsman." Jacobs also commented on the need for the PAC in the current election cycle saying, "In a world where every other candidate has an independent PAC in his or her corner, supporters of Jon Huntsman wanted to be sure he was on an equal playing field."
