Taylor Chapman is an experienced trial attorney representing clients in matters involving commercial contracts and negotiations, government contracts, real estate disputes, and employee mobility issues. Taylor has secured judgments, injunctions, arbitral awards, and settlements for companies, executives, and high-net-worth individuals. She has first and second chair trial and arbitration experience. She is especially familiar with litigating business disputes in courts in Northern Virginia—specifically the Circuit Court for Fairfax County, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Government Contract Disputes
  • Lead counsel for plaintiff government contractor in a complex commercial arbitration related to a breach of a subcontract agreement; obtained a multi-million-dollar settlement (AAA)
  • Successfully defended government contractor in a teaming agreement dispute—including compelling arbitration, reducing the scope of the case via a motion to dismiss, and obtaining an arbitral award dismissing all remaining claims after a four-day hearing (CPR)
  • Successfully defended prime contractor against claims by subcontractor for breach of subcontract, breach of non-solicitation, tortious interference with contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, conversion, and conspiracy (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Represented prime contractor in a teaming agreement dispute and obtained early determination that teaming agreement was unenforceable "agreement to agree" (Arbitration)
  • Secured favorable settlement for government contractor in a dispute over a subcontractor breaching a teaming agreement and poaching employees
  • Lead counsel for defendant government contractor who was in default in a breach of subcontract case—won a motion to set aside the default judgment and negotiated a favorable settlement (Fairfax Cir.)
Trade Secret & Employment Litigation
  • Secured a preliminary injunction against a former executive in a noncompetition and misappropriation of trade secrets case on behalf of the largest shipping company in the United States. (Norfolk Cir.)
  • Counsel for government contractor whose former employee attempted to provide trade secrets to a rival company; obtained temporary restraining order (D.C. Superior) 
  • Obtained a preliminary injunction for a large defense contractor under the Federal Defend Trade Secrets Act regarding trade secrets shared during a teaming agreement involving the receiving party's failure to firewall employees with knowledge (E.D. Va)
  • Secured favorable confidential settlement for a plaintiff prime contractor against a subcontractor in a case involving claims of fraudulent inducement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and tortious interference with contract (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Obtained successful pre-trial declaratory judgment that a non-compete was unenforceable against an executive employee (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Obtained favorable settlement for company in a Federal Labor Standards Act collective action (E.D. Va.)
  • Obtained favorable result for corporation undergoing a Department of Labor investigation regarding violations of the Federal Labor Standards Act
  • Conducted an internal investigation for a company where employee alleged sex- and race-based workplace misconduct 
Complex Contract and Business Disputes
  • Secured summary judgment of $4,367,121.68 on behalf of a lender against a defense contractor guarantor (PFF, LLC v. Benjamin Worrell) (E.D. Va.)
  • Obtained dismissal for law firm third-party defendant from breach of contract case at the motion to dismiss phase of litigation (Thornapple Associates, Inc. v. Izadpanah et al.) (E.D. Va.)
  • Counsel for trustee and executor in an action for an accounting (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Counsel for software company in connection with contract disputes for claims related to the COVID-19 pandemic
Real Estate Disputes
  • Represented plaintiff restaurant group in breach of commercial lease litigation; obtained preliminary injunction against landlord and confidential settlement (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Obtained preliminary injunction for a commercial developer against neighboring developer (Loudoun. Cir.)
  • Successfully defended creditor in action claiming it improperly foreclosed on real property due to a default on the underlying loan. (Fairfax Cir.)
Shareholder Disputes
  • Obtained summary judgment for an executive in a stock options case and successfully defended the judgment before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (E.D. Va.)
  • Obtained favorable result for corporation and managing director facing derivative claims for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, conversion, tortious interference with contract, and conspiracy where plaintiff sought millions in damages (Fairfax Cir.)
  • Obtained early dismissal of shareholder facing derivative claims for breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, business conspiracy, and tortious interference with contractual relations (Alexandria Cir.)
