Venable strong in 2017 AmLaw 100 rankings

On April 27, 2017, American Lawyer published its annual AmLaw 100 rankings with Venable posting another strong year at #66 based on 2016 gross revenue. Last year, the firm saw revenue increase nearly 5% to $498.5 million and profits per partner increase almost 4%, marking the second consecutive year the firm topped $1 million in profits per partner.

In addition to gross revenue, Venable made strong showings and improvements in critical categories that the AmLaw 100 measures including:

In an analysis of the latest rankings, American Lawyer said, "Venable is focusing much of its efforts on its technology and innovation work out of the nation's capital, particularly in the areas of privacy, advertising and internet law."

Discussing the firm's strong 2016 performance in an interview with National Law Journal earlier this year, Co-Managing Partner Larry Gesner said, "We feel that's still a pretty strong year, certainly compared to others in the industry.' He pointed to products liability, privacy and data security, tax and wealth planning, advertising, and representing the special servicing industry as key practices in the firm's profitability.
