Baltimore, MD January 21, 2002 --- Venable has named Robert H. Geis to the newly created position of Baltimore Office Head.
In this new post, Mr. Geis will be responsible for the overall success of Venable's Baltimore office, including oversight of all of the firm's operational matters, community involvement, and client and attorney development and retention.
"Each of our other offices has profited greatly from the superb leadership provided by its office head," notes Venable Managing Partner James L. Shea.
"When you combine that fact with the recent growth the Baltimore office has experienced, adding more than 20 attorneys in the past two years alone, it became obvious that both Baltimore and the firm as a whole would benefit from similar leadership. And I can think of no better person to provide that leadership than Bob Geis," Mr. Shea continues.
In addition to his new duties, Mr. Geis will continue to serve as co-chair of Venable's Business Transactions Group. A partner with the firm since 1996, Mr. Geis provides tax and business counsel to closely held businesses and their owners. He also offers his clients sophisticated estate planning advice.
Mr. Geis received his B.A. from Loyola College, his Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Texas, and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
