BALTIMORE, MD —Venable LLP is pleased to announce that two of its partners—Mitchell Y. Mirviss and W. Warren Hamel—are both winners in The Daily Record’s 2004 “Leadership in Law” awards.
The “Leadership in Law” awards honor 24 outstanding members of Maryland's legal community. According to The Daily Record, nominees for the awards are judged based on the efforts they have invested in bettering the legal profession and the communities in which they live and work, as well as how they have striven, through mentoring efforts, to build a strong future generation of professional and community leaders.

Shea. “Mitch and Warren have made outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the community and we congratulate them on this achievement.”
As the co-chair of Venable’s appellate advocacy group, Mr. Mirviss represents clients in appellate and other complex litigation in the areas of commercial litigation, constitutional law, product liability, government contracts, and intellectual property (patent and trademark infringement). He has extensive experience in jurisdiction, punitive damages, attorney-client privilege, class actions, constitutional and civil rights, intentional torts and legal malpractice matters.
A former Assistant U.S. Attorney, Mr. Hamel represents clients in white-collar criminal defense andenvironmental criminal defensematters,general civil litigation,product liability cases, and commercial and contract disputes. He also has substantial experience representing various print and broadcast media in litigation matters, including libel cases, press access and reporter’s privilege cases.
Previous winners of the “Leadership in Law” awards from Venable LLP include James L. Shea in 2002 and former partner and now U.S. District Court judge Roger W. Titus in 2001.
