A Special Joint Committee of the Real Property and Business Law Sections of the Maryland State Bar Association, a 43-member Committee of lawyers from across the State of Maryland, recently finalized the 2007 Report on Lawyers’ Opinions in Business Transactions, which is an update to the 1989 opinion report. After more than two and a half years of effort, the 200-page Report was completed last week and endorsed by the Business Law and Real Property Sections of the MSBA. In addition, the MSBA awarded the Business Law and Real Property Sections the Presidential Best Section Project Award on Saturday at it's convention in Ocean City in recognition of the contribution to Maryland practitioners made by the Report. Three of the eight members of the Steering Committee, which had primary responsibility for drafting the report and synthesizing the reports of various subcommittees of the Joint Committee, are Venable lawyers, including Chuck Morton, Chair of the Joint Committee, Sharon Kroupa and Mike Schiffer.
