Firm decamps from Chrysler Building to occupy 3 contiguous floors alongside famed Radio City Music Hall; Move reflects steady New York expansion of core practices including litigation, labor and employment, corporate, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and real estate

NEW YORK (November 26, 2007) - Law firm Venable LLP is relocating its New York City office from one iconic location to another.

The 550-attorney firm, based in Washington DC, entered the New York market in 2005 with its integration of established litigation boutique Heard & O'Toole LLP, located in the historic Chrysler Building across from Grand Central Station.

In a little more than two years, having more than doubled the number of attorneys in New York, Venable needed a larger space to accommodate its growing practice in the city. Now the firm is announcing that it is taking 52,000-square-feet of contiguous office space at 1270 Avenue of the Americas. The 31-story building, completed in 1932, is best known for its location adjacent to Radio City Music Hall.

"Obviously we have been very attached to our current location in the Chrysler Building, one of the city's finest landmark addresses. However, our steady growth over the past two years requires that we find a new home that can accommodate Venable's continued expansion in New York," said Edmund M. O'Toole Partner-in-Charge of Venable's New York office. "Our new office right at Rockefeller Center and alongside one of the world's greatest entertainment venues assures that our new address will be as memorable as our present one."

Venable's New York office has 30 attorneys primarily focused on civil and white collar litigation, as well as mid-market corporate transactions, bankruptcy, intellectual property, labor and employment matters and real estate transactions.

The transaction at 1270 Avenue of the Americas is a sublease from another major law firm that vacated the offices for new space at the just-opened New York Times headquarters on Eighth Avenue. The term is five years and Venable expects to occupy the space by the end of the first quarter 2008.

Following Venable's entrance in New York, the firm opened a Los Angeles office in 2006 by combining with two well-established West Coast boutiques with extensive practices in litigation, media and advertisement, entertainment, real estate and corporate matters.

Venable was represented by real estate services firm Newmark Knight Frank.
