The May 19 issue of Legal Times, the leading newspaper for Washington's legal community, celebrated the publication's 30th anniversary by highlighting the "visionaries," "champions" and "pioneers" who have shaped Washington's legal landscape over the past three decades.
One Venable attorney, Robert Wilkins is among the 30 "champions" profiled for their commitment to upholding the legal profession's tradition of service in the public interest through public service, pro bono representation and fighting to protect and expand civil liberties and rights.
Although he has built a reputation as one of the leading litigators and top criminal defense attorneys in Washington, the publication singles Wilkins out for other reasons: his stellar service in D.C. Public Defender Service, his precedent-setting fight against racial profiling by the Maryland State Police and his long-term advocacy for the formation of a National Museum of African American History and Culture.
