Washington (May 7, 2008) -Venable announced today that the firm ranked among the foremost trademark firms in the United States according to two sources. Venable ranked 20th based on the number of U.S. trademark applications filed in 2007, according to Trademark Insider. That ranking marks the sixth consecutive year the firm has ranked among the top 25 trademark practices in the nation according to the publication.
Venable also ranked 13th based on the number of U.S. trademark registrations issued in 2007, according to Intellectual Property Today. That ranking is up from 16th in 2006.
"The Trademark Insider rankings indicate how many clients are turning to us for their trademark filing needs," said Mark B. Harrison, Chair of the firm's Trademark and Domain Name Practice Group, "and the Intellectual Property Today rankings show our success in achieving the goal of registration." "Venable is well established as a go-to firm for companies for whom it is critical to clear and register trademarks," he added. "But what the rankings do not show is that we are equally active in doing the same work in foreign countries."
On an individual basis, Mr. Harrison ranked among the top 50 trademark attorneys in the nation from 2002 to 2007, according to Trademark Insider. The overall rankings reflect strong performances by attorneys across the Group.
