The Maryland State Ethics Commission released a report on Friday January 30, 2009 showing how much money was spent on lobbyists in Maryland during an unusually busy period of legislative activity that included the 2007 special session and last year's regular 90-day session.

Venable partner John Stierhoff ranked third among lobbyists with lobbying fees of just over $1 million during the reporting period. Venable ranked fifth (by lobbying fees) among firms lobbying the Maryland government.

The report received coverage in both the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post.com.
