Venable moved up the Legal Times 2009 "Influence 50" rankings of Washington-area lobbying firms and practices. Venable ranked 13th among law firm government affairs practices and 19th among all lobbying practices. The practice group saw 2008 revenues increase 7.4 percent over the previous year.
In the 2008 rankings, the firm was 14th among law firms and 22nd among all lobbyists. The rankings are based on total lobbying and government affairs revenues.
