Benjamin R. Civiletti, the former U.S. Attorney General and longtime partner with Venable, was mentioned in the September 8, 2009 edition of The Daily Record's "People on the move" section as a recent recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from American Lawyer. The magazine honored Civiletti for his distinguished career as one of the nation's top attorneys in both the public and private sector, and as a leader in advancing diversity in the legal profession.

American Lawyer's lifetime achievement winners are senior lawyers who have made important contributions to public life while building outstanding private or public-interest practices. Among the other notables being recognized this year is former FBI and CIA Director William Webster. Past winners include former Secretaries of State Warren Christopher and James Baker, former Attorney General Dick Thornburgh, and former Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Patricia Wald.
