Venable attorneys Steven Schwarz and Leigh Thelen prevailed at trial for the adoption of two minor children on behalf of a pro bono client before the D.C. Superior Court on April 19th and April 21st.
The two minor children were placed in the client's foster care more than two years ago after the children were adjudicated "neglected" by their biological mother through D.C.'s Child and Family Services Agency. The judge ultimately held that the biological mother was withholding her consent to the adoption contrary to the best interests of the children and that our clients were fit and able to provide the children a proper home and education.
Steven and Leigh are continuing to represent the pro bono client in obtaining custody to the adopted children's younger sister, who was born in March of 2010.
