Venable partner Bart Stupak spoke to Legal Bisnow in their August 31, 2011 edition about the need for improved emergency communications ten years after 9/11 and weeks after the Washington, DC area was hit by an earthquake and Hurricane Irene.
Stupak told Legal Bisnow that the recent "events are good reminders that cell coverage can be overwhelmed." While commenting on a proposed bill by Senator Jay Rockefeller that would create a dedicated public safety network for emergencies, Stupak said the bill is not likely to pass because organizations do not have the tens of billions of dollars it would cost to implement such a system.
