Venable associate Laura Bouyea was recently named a Vice-Chairperson and a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Maryland Chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). IWIRC is an organization comprised of lawyers, lenders, judges, financial advisors and other professionals, dedicated to supporting and promoting women professionals in the insolvency professions.
The chapter held a reception at Venable on May 16, 2012. Ms. Rangina Hamidi was the guest speaker at the event. She discussed the life of women in her hometown of Kandahar, Afghanistan and Kandahar Treasure, the first for-profit enterprise owned and operated by women in Kandahar. Judge Susan K. Gauvey was a special guest at the event and introduced Ms. Hamidi.
