In a December 20, 2012 article, Law360 featured news of Venable’s victory on behalf of Perdue Farms before a Maryland federal judge. A conservation group alleged violations of the Clean Water Act (CWA) by polluting the Chesapeake Bay against Perdue and a contractor. Following a bench trial in October, a federal judge entered a ruling in favor of Perdue saying the conservation group failed to meet its burden establishing a CWA violation and that there was insufficient evidence to impose a CWA penalty against Perdue.
Perdue is represented by Venable Chair Jim Shea and partners Michael Schatzow, Tom Lingan, Maria Rodriguez and Rosewin Sweeney.
