A prominent New York litigator praised Venable partner Matthew McLaughlin as a "leader of the Bar" and as "an excellent litigator with a keen intellect"

In a May 29, 2013 Q&A with Law360, Joseph De Simone, head of the New York litigation and dispute resolution practice and co-leader of the global securities litigation and corporate governance groups at a full service corporate law firm, praised Venable partner Matthew McLaughlin and a partner from another firm as impressive peers.

When asked to name an attorney outside his firm who impressed him and why, Simone named Matthew McLaughlin and another lawyer, saying that both are "excellent litigators with keen intellects, vast substantive knowledge of the law, and a practical approach to problem solving." Simone added that both attorneys "exhibit the most admirable qualities of our noble profession: honesty, integrity, diligence, loyalty, creativity, humor and a passion for both the law and life in general. I have known them since law school and it has been exciting to see both of them develop into top-notch lawyers. They are not only leaders at their respective law firms, but they have become leaders of the Bar and of our beloved alma mater, Fordham University School of Law."
