Annette Kwok to receive inaugural President’s Award, Jenny Kim to co-chair Working Parents Forum


Washington, DC – September 10, 2014 – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, DC Area (APABA-DC) will honor attorneys Annette K. Kwok and Youjung Jenny Kim at its annual Award and Installation Gala. Venable is a sponsor of the gala which will be held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts on September 12

Ms. Kwok, the Immediate Past-President of APABA-DC, will be honored with the organization’s inaugural President’s Award. The award honors the tremendous service and commitment invested by the outgoing President of APABA-DC. A member of Venable’s Patent Prosecution and Counseling Group, Ms. Kwok counsels domestic and international clients on a variety of patent procurement and enforcement issues, as well as intellectual property strategy and licensing issues. Since 2010, she has served on various APABA-DC board positions, including Treasurer (2010-2012), President-Elect (2012-2013) and President (2013-2014).

Ms. Kim has been appointed as a co-chair of APABA-DC’s Working Parents Forum for the 2014-2015 term. The Working Parents Forum provides informal networking opportunities, social events, and programming tailored to the interests and schedules of APABA-DC members with children. It also serves as a medium for information exchange where members can discuss issues related to parenting, childcare, and other work-life balance topics. A member of Venable’s Tax and Wealth Planning Group, Ms. Kim focuses on tax policy and legislative affairs. In addition to providing general tax advice for businesses and individuals, she gives strategic advice on federal issues that require representation before Congress, the Treasury Department or the Internal Revenue Service. Ms. Kim also chairs Venable's Korea Desk handling and coordinating legal matters involving Korean companies doing business in the U.S. and for U.S. companies doing business in Korea.

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, DC Area, a 501(c)(6) organization, is the oldest and largest association of Asian Pacific American attorneys in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Since its founding in 1981, APABA-DC’s membership has grown into a network of over 500 attorneys, law professors, law school students, and other community leaders.
