Los Angeles, CA (October 27, 2014) – Venable LLP has announced that Jason T. Whiting has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as Counsel in the Tax and Wealth Planning practice group. Previously, Mr. Whiting had been a Senior Counsel with Freeman, Freeman, Smiley LLP in Los Angeles.

With more than a decade of trust and estates experience, Whiting advises high net-worth families and individuals on wealth succession, estate gift and generation skipping transfer tax issues, and frequently represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service. He provides clients with sophisticated wealth transfer strategies including grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable trusts, life insurance trusts, residence trusts, buy/sell agreements, and family entities such as partnerships and LLCs. He also advises trustees on their duties in administering trusts, and advises individuals and organizations regarding the formation and operation of section 501(c)(3) charities and private foundations.

Mr. Whiting received his J.D. from University of Southern California School of Law and a B.A. from University of California Berkeley. He also received an LL.M., Taxation, with honors from Golden Gate University of Law.
