The Tahirih Justice Center honors Venable with the 2015 Maryland Firm of the Year Award

April 15, 2015 - At its 18th annual fundraising gala on April 14, the Tahirih Justice Center honored Venable with the 2015 Maryland Firm of the Year Award for the firm's significant pro bono contributions. Venable partner Seth A. Rosenthal accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

According the Center's website, in 2014, "Venable expanded its pro bono partnership with Tahirih Justice Center, with more attorneys co-counseling cases with Tahirih's Baltimore office than any other firm in Maryland. Venable Baltimore has increasingly taken on complex defensive asylum matters requiring multiple expert witnesses and interpreters. The firm has consistently gone above and beyond to support Tahirih Baltimore by hosting fundraising events for Tahirih, including a Donor Briefing in 2013, a Pearls for Women and Girls event in 2013, and a Bighearted Attorneys Campaign event in 2014. Tahirih is honored to recognize the Venable team for their outstanding leadership and generosity."

In accepting the award, Rosenthal praised "the critical role that Tahirih plays in saving so many women and girls fleeing violence and oppression in their countries of origin. Tahirih offers these individuals not only hope, but a new life. Venable is honored to support its work."
