B20 taskforces have been influential in shaping the global economic decision-making processes of G20 governments

Washington, DC – June 30, 2015 – Venable LLP partner and International Trade Practice Co-Chair Ashley W. Craig has joined the 2015 B20 Taskforce. The B20 taskforce leads the dialogue with the G20, an international forum of governments and central bank governors representing 20 of the world's major economic powers, on behalf of the international business community. Last December, Turkey took over the G20 presidency and will host the group's summit later this year.

Founded in 2010, the B20 has had a substantial effect on international economic decision-making. It brings together leading independent business associations from G20 economies and advocates on behalf of more than 6.7 million small, medium, and large companies. The B20 operates as a worldwide platform for exchanges between national business communities, aiming at building consensus and developing common positions on critical issues for enterprises. Through its broad-based representation, the B20 engages policy-makers on a global scale and advocates for policies that contribute to global growth and job creation at regional and international levels.

The B20 Turkey Taskforce has decided to continue the work of the Australian B20 presidency with respect to five of the taskforces that developed recommendations for G20 governments last year. The five taskforces include Trade, Infrastructure and Investment, Financing Growth, Employment, and Anti-corruption, with a new taskforce focusing on SMEs and Entrepreneurship.

As Co-Chair of Venable's International Trade Group, Mr. Craig maintains a diverse practice, advising on a host of domestic and international regulatory compliance concerns. Consistently ranked by Chambers USA for his work on global commerce, he counsels both U.S. and non-U.S. companies on transactional matters and cross-border legal/regulatory and policy concerns, concentrating on export controls, economic sanctions, technology transfers, Customs compliance, and transport regulation.
